17 Feb Spouse Speak – The Right Way!
As parents we are always a little extra careful when it comes to speaking to our children. We use all the right words and avoid all the wrong ones because we understand that children are impressionable creatures who emulate the behavior of adults around them. And yet we often forget that children are very observational as well. They don’t just listen to the way mumma or papa speak to them, but are well aware of the way adults around them converse with each other as well. So this National Spouse Day (January 26) we share 4 verbal nudges that will help you nurture a loving, caring relationship with your spouse. After all a child can only truly flourish when the parents share a healthy, happy relationship with each other.
- “I believe in you.” 4 words that will make your spouse feel like your hero and bring a smile to his/her face on even the toughest day.
- “Let’s do this together.” Your family is rock solid only when you and your spouse are a team. Say it out loud every once in a while so none of you forget that. P.s. this is a great way to get your spouse to finish an incomplete chore or some pending without criticizing him/her .
- “I’m listening…tell me.” Sometimes the most complex relationship issues can be solved by simply listening or ensuring your spouse that you’re around to lend an ear when needed. Encourage him/her to share their feelings because your child too will mirror what they see.
- “Let’s start again.” In the middle of a bad day, at the end of a heated argument or even when things seem to be crumbling, simply saying these words of positive reinforcement can go a long way in mending your spouse’s happiness quotient and confidence levels.
