This holiday season, give your child a gift that will last forever-the gift of values.
Start the first day of Christmas with “kindness”
Drive around your city and give out warm clothes and blankets to the homeless.
On day 2 Create a family gratitude list where you write down the one thing you are grateful today. This list can posted on the fridge for all family members to read. This is the value of “gratitude”.
Teach them the value of “determination” and encourage a never give up attitude for eg. learn how to ride a bike!
Taking charge of Christmas decorations is a great way to instill the value of “responsibility.”
Make a Christmas Card for your relatives that live away and post it to them! This is the value of “love.”
Say yes to your parents for the entire day without dismissing their guidance. This fun task helps instill the value of “respect.”
Set the dinner table on weekends and help the elders with cleaning afterwards. This is the value of “lending a helping hand.”
Maintain a piggy bank that gets filled every time your child showcases good manners such as saying “please” and “thank you.” A great way to install the value of “manners.”
Share your favourite toy with a sibling/friend for a day. This instills the value of “sharing.”
Take a trip to an animal shelter and spend the day with them! This activity helps instill the value of “empathy.”
Build a puzzle or a pillow fort with your parents, another effective way of instilling the value of “teamwork.”
